from the opening screen I slide to unlock.  A blank screen appears with flower background, nothing else. touching icons at bottom produces  whirring/buzzing sound but nothing changes. pressing either top buttons returns to slide to unlock and process repeats.

however, this being said, sometimes unlocking does produce the correct results and the phone becomes usable.
