Version P168C (June 2008) Firmware

Hey guys, you will have noticed that your admin has been away for awhile. Both bryce and myself have just gotten into our holidays so we will be spending a lot more time around the site and spending well needed time doing some maintenance work. This site has certainly grown since it's debut last year, and we look forward to seeing it continue to grow over the years.

We have posted a mini-forum for any other CECT phone models, we will make the consideration of making the CECT P168 Forum a CECT forum, but not in the near future, So all other CECT phone users, go check it out!

With the number of members rapidly increasing, we have decided to put a rules section on the forum, it is located here.

So make sure you read it, to save yourself any hastles.

NOTE: Thanks to member virdri, who posted a correct FIRMWARE for the P168C

this is conformed to work. and also you can reflash on P168+ phones

Since rapid share is a slow server, I will host this on mediafire for a little faster download.

oh... i install the firmware to the p168+ and it works but the menu appears like the normal p168+ menu... but isaw that the p168c have a different menu... like this:

i want to know if this firmware is the same, coz i want to flash my p168+ with that firmware

no sorry you cant flash your p168+ with the p168c firmware, your phone will brick

I'm not so sure that it's a definate "can't be done" quite yet. There's a fellow on a german forum for the p168 who claims to have done this. My german is "nicht so gut" so I did't get the jist of it all. The fellow who refered me to the forum is from germany and is going to try it himself in the next day or so. I'm waiting for his results, then I might try it myself. His claim was flashing a p168+ with the p168c firmware. For you german speaking folks http://www.chinamobiles.org/showthread.php?t=6129

I uploaded this firmware to p168 and phone do not start up. To upload I used spiderman.
There is too much diferences in this and orginal firmware if you compare it in hex editor.
Both phones 168 and 168c seems to work on same chip mtk 6226.
I will try to modyfi 168c firmware to work on 168 but it would be not so easy.

P168C (June 2008) Firmware

I have p168c which I bought recently on ebay and it was working until I choose the high speed sim card option in engineering mode and then there was no way to turn it on. However after flashing the phone with this firmware it turn on and everything seems to work but the menu is like the old p168 and not the one I had before. The original firmware was YH718-NOLOGO-ENX_900-HW_V1_3-SW_V001 can anybody upload this one or help me. Thanks

What flashtool did you use? I believe spiderman has a button that you can get the proper firmware update off the web. In any case, go to http://forum.gsmhosting.com/ and search their database.

I found another firmware uploaded by someone on gsmhosting and with that firmware now the menus are like like p168c. thanks
