Hey guys, you will have noticed that your admin has been away for awhile. Both bryce and myself have just gotten into our holidays so we will be spending a lot more time around the site and spending well needed time doing some maintenance work. This site has certainly grown since it's debut last year, and we look forward to seeing it continue to grow over the years.

Hello,

I have a cect G580 according to the manual ( seller says it's a cect ka08 mini )

I'm having some trouble using the handwriting, when i try to handwrite an sms nothing happens ( i can write but that's it, no letters that i write show up ) anyone know what im doing wrong

I also have a shortcut menu, no matther what i delete or add in there it doesn't make a difference, anyone know where i can find back the shortcuts? how to use them?

I am not familiar with the phone, I know it being a Mini i9 style phone without Java.

These phones are not very good with the handwriting spec. Its 50/50

it works or it don't

shortcuts are simply what items you want in the Listed menu. Its a pointless option.

sorry to sound so negative, but you have to remember these are not high tech Operating systems. it a good basic GSM phone.

Hi,

I have one of these phones and i am not sure what level or firmware i have as i seem to see pics of items for sale that look as if they have different menu's to mine,

How can i tell what firmware version i have and also how can this be updated?

I don't know if this is the place but i have CECT Mini and when it ring i dont see name of the caller only his number is there a way to see the name?

jef0113, I have the same problem with my KA08 mini, ie the handwriting recognition doesn't work. I have another mini iphone (not KA08) that has working handwriting recognition however it is much quicker to use the keyboard. This function is really only useful for Chinese character writing.

tolko, I don't have the problem where the caller name doesn't show. It might have something to do with the country you are in (I am in Australia) or you might have an early version phone.

Other problems/limitations with the KA08: shortcuts function does not work, no quick name search, only 13 icons (out of 16 spaces) on the main page, no quick access to alarm, calender or write SMS.

I just found out that caller name does not work with SMS, only for voice calls. Can someone confirm this.

this phone is horrible as it is, lacking stuff even the most basic and elderly 'normal' phones have.

tolko you need to know your country code.... I live in the US so my country code is 1. In the phonebook i would add 1 to every contact's number living in the US. For ex. 1-444-123-3456
I put 1, the area code, and their number...

Hi i have a KA08 and I was wondering if i could receive a manual to it as the one that i have received is for the iphone and what i take form this is this phone is no iphone but merely a toy to those of you who can figure out how to get your number to show you must enter both (for aus) the number as 04 and +61 in your phone book to see it when they ring as well as msg. The one drama I am now receiving with the phone is I can not seem to find my alarm clock ring tones/ volume calender ect. And am unable to access the short cuts key which maintains all this information. Also is this phone meant to have 8gb storage on it as i have only got 260kb worth of phone storage on it and can not even upload one song, this phone is driving me crazy if any one has these answers please write back to me thank you

ANOTHER problem!

this must be some kind of firmware bug; if I'm keying in a text message and notice that further back in the message I've omitted a letter or some other error, it's sometimes impossible to place the cursor in the right spot to make the necessary changes. no matter how many times you tap or press or otherwise try to indicate to the phone that you want the cursor HERE, absolutely will not go where it is asked to go, but instead will pick some other arbitrary spot to be.

this wouldn't be such a problem if there were navigational up, down, right and left arrows such as those a SANE phone has, to enable the user to get the cursor where it's needed. but no. of course those don't exist on this COCKEYED, INFURIATING PIECE OF CRAPWARE

and has anyone noticed how occasionally the cursor will just jump to somewhere near the top of the message and start inputting the new text in the middle of the stuff you've already typed??
