Well I have had my M88 for a couple of months now. So far so good. Thank god that there is a lot of optional programs for the M88 and I don't have to experiment llike the rest of you and brick a phone or two. A master reset and you go back to the original Windows Mobile 6 system. I have added and subtracted many programs in the two months that I have used the phone. My favorites are S2v, S2P,PCM Keyboard, and the Ifonz shell. What I realy like about the phone is that the bluetooth works with my car's built in blue tooth system. I have purchased 2 other bluetooth phones, and neither one of them worked with my Toyota Solora Convertable's system. This one works flaulessly. I can even set preset bottons on my radio to dial out. Hurray!!!!!!!
I do like the ability to go online with my phone where wi fi is available. Use Google Maps, Windows Live Search, email, and on and on. The connection is a little slow, and once and a while you have to reset (reboot) the device as the memory is not so great so it crashes once and a while, but maybe the next generation will be better.
The camera is rather limited in lower light conditions, but outside it works pretty good for a phone camera. The video too. My only complaint is that it is very difficult to see the image outside. Do any of the screen protectors reduce glare, thus improving the ability to see the image outside. (Live in Sunny Arizona so this is sort of a problem) Poor me sometimes can't see the phone buttons when driving around with the top down.
When useing the PCM Keyboard for texting (in the horizontal mode) the send key is very close to the number key changer, and the space bar, so have sent lots of incomplete text messages. Wish the send button was somewhere else.
The fm radio has limited range (as seen by my other posts as to how to improve reception) The radio turns off when the screen back light goes out, so have to fiddle with the settings to not turn the back light off automatically. I like being able to list the stations that do play, and being able to identify the call letters too.
Love the movie player, and some of the movies that have been posted on this forum. Made a long wait for an appointment not so long as I watched part of a movie.
The S2P free program wors great. I still havn't figured out why some of the album art transfers to my M88 and others do not, but I can live without that feature.
The headphones are marginal at best, but have managed to solder a decent set of buds on the existing headset. Don't seem to be able to answer the phone by pressing the button built into the microphone, but the headset does work (with mike) by pressing the answer button on the phone's face.
Windows mobile (v6) has lots of it's own features and you can change ring tones, wall paper, etc. practically limitlessly.
I installed Ifonz. The most current version did not work so good with my phone, so I am using the next one down. I can customize the buttons to be anything, including any photo that I have stored on the phone. Like that feature. Ifonz also lets you have multiple pages of icons that start programs. Some don't work right out of the download, but you can modify the buttons quite easily once you figure out where the program's exe file is located, and what it is called. The camera is realy called Opal.exe, so took a llittle work to find it in the Windows folder.
So, so far so good. Ordered a silicon case today from Zidaglo, and will report how all is working next week.
