Hi - I bought my M89 recently. Generally like the phone, but I've found it unreliable for phone calls/sms. The behavior is that if I leave the phone alone for several minutes, it no longer receives calls. The signal meter still shows full - but when I make a call to test it, I'm sent to v-mail and the phone promptly shows an X for signal. For reference, the SIM card I'm using works fine in another windows mobile phone...

update: my radio stack is probably not the right one for my region - does anyone have instructions on how to update the radio rom for the M89?

Any ideas? resources? downloads?

while this is still a problem, I've made some progress. (I'm using AT&T in this case)

* started using a tool called band switch - which allows me to go from GSM to UTMS (or auto detect). When I use that tool, it appears to reset the radio stack and the phone works for a few hours. But calls still drop, and making phone calls after a few hours will freeze the phone.

* attempted to use a different phonesettings.dll (HTC version) that allows you to set your Band. However, it can never set the band to something I choose. (probably because it doesn't interface with CECTs radio rom)


Would love to hear from someone has other tools, or knows of radio roms that are compatible with the m89.
