I bought a KA09 Nokia clone from a chinese company (they're made in China!) a couple of months ago. OK, so it was dirt cheap, but it's not been a happy experience.. The first one that arrived just didn't work, so back it went. A month later, it's replacement arrived.
I wanted this phone, not just because it's a nice toy, but also because it takes two SIMs - my company recently started charging us for private calls on company phones!
In it's favour, the dual SIM management is rather nice - it's easy to select which SIM to make a call on, and you can turn individual SIMs off and on. The display is clear, and the touch screen works quite well.
Against it, though are a number of things:
(1) The battery life is a joke. The guff states 400 hours of standby. I'm lucky if I get 24 hours on mine, and I've tried two different batteries.
(2) The firmware is buggy. The backlight often forgets to turn itself off, the bluetooth connects to my car kit sometimes, but only when it feels like it, and it sometimes forgets to disconnect a call.
(3) SMS messaging is horrible! There's a *tiny* qwerty keyboard at the bottom of the screen, but to use it (even with the flimsy little stylus) needs *really* good eyesight and infinite patience - the 'keys' are no more than 2mm square!
(4) Some aspects are fiddly. For instance, to redial a number:
- Press the green button
- Select 'SIM1 Call History'
- Select the number to redial
- Press the green button again
- Select 'SIM1 call'
(5) The inbuilt ring tones are seriously naff, the inbuilt games are seriously naff, and the camera, despite saying '3.2 megapixels' on the lens, won't take anything bigger than 640 x 480.
Just my humble opinion, of course!
