White screen problem with new P168 lcd

Hey guys, you will have noticed that your admin has been away for awhile. Both bryce and myself have just gotten into our holidays so we will be spending a lot more time around the site and spending well needed time doing some maintenance work. This site has certainly grown since it's debut last year, and we look forward to seeing it continue to grow over the years.

Hi guys & gals. I found a technical guy a few miles from my local home who said he can solve white screen problem on my P168. Whether he really can, I will find out in the next 24 hours. If he does, I will post the solution for all of you to see. I any case I plan to give myself a Christmas present with a new i9 if the guy doesn't solve the screen issue.

Hello friends,I checked out the guy and we found out that the screens he had were suitable for and worked on the P168+. We know that because we swapped screens between the P168 and P168+. (We had both side by side)The P168 screen works on the P168+ but the P168+ screen does not work on the P168, all we got is the white screen problem; sound still worked though. I did not bother to disassemble the two screens to see if there is a micro chip hidden somewhere in the copper strip. But for now I can say, if you are getting a blank white screen with a new lcd on your P168, chances are you may have gotten a P168+ lcd. I am going to try and see if my pal is willing to try a swap with a P168+++ screen and see what happens. Anyhow, he gave me a new P168+ to use for experimenting. It has one problem which is, after it boots up and the screen switches off, the only way to turn it back on is to tap any one of the buttons. I discovered the tiny battery on the board is leaking and almost dead. Soon as I find another battery, I'll replace it and see if there's improvement. I plan to get a flash cable pronto to flash it to a P168C. If you should know, I gt the P168+ because the guy said he cannot sell it to any client kowing it has a problem.
