| Attention CECT P168 owners. If you are in engineering mode NEVER NEVER NEVER select or turn on"High Speed SIM" option.YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE!!! This is a serious firmware bug that is not well known. I happened to find this by doing a deep search on Google where some owners decided to do this. Whats happens if you do select this option. A countdown begins and the phone will say "shut down in 3 sec 2....1....then shuts down. And it is never possible to reboot the phone after. IN engineering mode: THIS DEADLY OPTION IS LOCATED UNDER OPTION (5) Misc. STAY AWAY FROM OPTION (2) "High Speed SIM" DO NOT EVEN HIGHLIGHT IT. IT COULD SWITCH ON.Everybody that has pressed the High Speed Sim on has had there phone shut off and could not restore the phone. There is no such thing as a high speed sim all of our sim cards are either 32kb or 64kb. the "only" way to fix your phone is to do a complete re-flash.

The phone's keypad, but if you have to ask, don't even go there! There is very little to accomplish in engineering mode other than messing up your phone. It is used for the phone's hw and sw developers. _________________ remember the ultimate answer is "42"

| If you screw up a setting in engineering mode and the phone dies, there is a way to fix it with out having to completely reflash the phone. You don't need a flash backup to do this but you still need the flashing cable. In Flash Tools there is a button that says "Format" on the top bar. You click it, and it will come up with a new window. Select "Manual Format FAT" and where it says "Begin Address [Hex]" put "0x00E00000" and under "Format Length [Hex]" put "0x00200000". (That region of the phones memory stores all the settings.) Press "Ok", connect the phone to the cable with the power off and hold down the power button until the red bar goes across the screen. This will COMPLETELY RESET ALL SETTINGS TO FACTORY DEFAULTS. When you turn the phone back on it will go straight into the pen calibration screen. After that, your phone should be brand new. Engineering mode does have a couple of good uses. I had to disable the 850mhz because my service doesn't use it and it was connecting to it forcing me to be stuck in "Emergency" even when I had reception just because the 850 signal was stronger. I also raised my audio levels for my main speaker and headphones. (Although you can blow the speakers if you go nuts with those settings.) |
