| EDIT: OK, I got the program to recognize the com port, but when I click "Readback" and hold the red button my phone actually turns on instead of the program working. Any help? I'm having a little problem. I ordered the cable that was posted in this topic, and along with it I ordered a Serial Port to USB converter cable because I am using a laptop, and do not have a serial port to plug the phone cable in to. So I plug it all in and start up Flash Tools. I click Options and it says "Com port not detected" I installed the driver that came with the serial to usb cable, and when i plug it in XP makes the USB device recognized sound, and immediately after makes the USB device unplugged sound, any help on what you think the problem might be? |

| I think I saw in one of these topics that you want to take the battery out of your phone for 30 seconds, then reinstall it and then plug your phone up and proceed as normal... and I believe the 9 volt battery has to be connected before you start as well... Keep us posted... |

| I did the Flash to my p168+ to the lateset p168c and said insert sim 1 2 emergency calls only. but everything else was good. reverting back to the p168+ now. and my Cable from ipmart came today. i did the UPS $12 option. took 2 days from china. I can only hope they are as fast getting my p168C+ here that Quick. Love the Phone, that came in today. but the ear speaker was not working, handsfree worked and bluetooth. But i bought a p168+ on ebay that was "bricked" from a C upgrade and got another p168+ with a cracked screen for $25 so i might be able to fix up another one. Man, I'm getting addicted...and this forum is at Fault for that But I Love it... |

| Did you use the standard serial cable to flash? I've been using the serial emulator usb cable. I got the "p168c latest" fw to recognize my AT&T sim for a short time, but no luck w/ the T-mobile. Funny thing was when I was switching them around in different slots, the ATT was seen in the sim 1 slot, but was actually in the sim 2 slot. Go figure. I'm going to do a readback and compare in hex editor. Edit: I forgot to ask if you would please upload the .bin from your new C+ when you get it. | I just reflashed with the p168+ and nothing, I might have to try the C again and swap my sim to slot 2. i was getting a signal but that was it. I will upload my C+ Firmware as soon as i feel confident to hook up the cable to it LOL. the cable was the serial china 23. |

| When I reflashed back to the + firmware, I had to do a compare in hex and replace some files before it would boot back up. Sounds like you have the same issue. After playing around with the sim cards some more, I can't get any of them to be seen again; that's why I'm doing a readback to see if there's something missing in the C rom. _________________ remember the ultimate answer is "42"

Hi,
i ordered the china23 cable today as well. This does perhaps not apply to your sim-problem, but in my case, my phone did not see any of my sim-cards. What i had to do was to place a small piece of paper on top of the sim so that it "pushed down" on the connector underneath (they had no contact without it).
anyway, maybe this can help someone who has trouble getting his/her phone to recognize the sim...
regards

| I tried to flash back to the + and no go, no boot at all. it will flash to the C no problem just not noticing the sim (it is not a 3G) and works in other phones. trying different 168+ firmwares so far 2 of them the same thing. getting fustrated now. |

Did you follow Testing's U-tube video. You probably need to download the hex editor program and compare and replace to get your original fw back on the phone. I did. _________________ remember the ultimate answer is "42"
