also i tried the readback to do the compare and it finished in like 15 seconds. but it did take the 25 min to download to the phone. I was going to do that. trying a different firmware now and going to do the readback again, BTW it is a p168+ MT6225

Same phone I got, but there are many different sw versions. To be sure your phone works exactly as it did you need to know what version you had, download it, then do a comparison. If you did't do a backup, you may be sol until you can find your correct fw version. For some reason, these flashing programs seem to miss some files. When I did a read back of a p168c file I downloaded using spiderman, it was different than the original file. I then flashed the same original p168c file onto the phone using flashtools and got another different file compared to the other two. The phone did boot up both times but neither recognized the sims; even after replacing files in hex editor and reflashing them on the phone.

that last one went it and readback, did the hex workshop, nothing. But i did notice on thing.. the scat.txt only had ROM 0x0 no other zero's. that was about it. trying my last time on the last rom i have dated january 2008. if not I have 2 more p168+ phones and a P168C+ hopefully by this weekend LOL

I noticed that too. I went ahead and used it and had no problem. I later checked the scat.txt file later before another readback and it had a starting point from a previous readback. I just re-entered the 8 zeros, saved it and used it. Worked just fine, but I'll check it before I use it again.

what is weird is that the only one that works is the c update. it did work before nut stupid me never backed it up. it was working but would turn off by itself. or if i shook or turned it it would turn off. took it apart an put it back together and it worked fine after that. did the C update without backing up and now noting but C with no Sim messages..Grrrrr....and i have to use a different computer to do it because mine does not have the serial port..no comfy chair...LOL...I need another Beer..that might help...

ok, something maybe stupid, phone tools, chipset type MT6226 mine is a 6225. maybe the problem?

Where it says "Options" in Flash tools go down where it says "baseband chip option" click that. Then where says "check base band chip ECO" uncheck that. I found I couldn't make anything work trying to use their default.

I may not have understood what you were meaning but this won't hurt anything since nothing is working anyway. LOL That is how I felt about it. lol Good Luck!

I forgot to tell you that after one million tries, I began taking out my battery from the phone and also the cable before I tried anything different or messed up. Just too reset it all again.

Something finally worked. I upgraded from 168+ to 168C. I am so happy with it. It has worked fine ever since I finally got it too flash.

I read all your "fun stuff" Very Impressed, I have done all that. right to the note. Still nothing. working on something different now. the C does not see my Sim but went through. If all else fails i will just put the C back on to play with untill my 168C+ comes in. but I will probably stay up all night playing. I need to figures it out so i can help others.

Did you try to format the phone then try flasjing it again? I am just grasping. If I can think of anything I will get back with you.

Anyone mind going in to Engineering mode and telling what their UART settings are? (Engineer Mode\Device\Set UART).

Every time i try to do the download I get an error:

[BROM] Fail to get target baseband cihp H\W version!

Possible reasons:
1. There's a UART communication problem between FlashTool and BootROM.
2. Target might shutdown unexpectedly.

[ACTION]
1. Try Again.
2. Proceed H\W checking in download cable and target side UART path.
3. Monitor if power-drop occured in target side.

Nothing I do will make it go beyond this error.

I've gotten that error before also. As Judee mentioned in the previous post, check to make sure your baseband chip is DESELECTED. Also make sure you set the chip type to mt6226. My program always defaults to mt6218 or something like that.

Jmastera, you have to go to the "Options" menu, go down to "Baseband chip option", and UNCHECK "Check baseband chip ECO version".

I'm gonna be brave and flash my p 168+ to the C... anything else before i need to know before i mess up lol
