Just be sure to have your original firmware so you can put it back in case it doesn't see your sim card like so many other people.

I have not flashed a p168 before and have done many other phones.

My question is why do people here and in th evideo flash it then hex edit etc to fully install firmware?

Have you tried spiderman 2.46 or later? normally this loads everything fine and you dont need to flash seperate blocks later.

i'm outta luck all i get is a blank white screen.... hey TESTING i tried to folow ur advice on pushiin format shortcut way and it didn't work LOL........


well it did but my screen didn't respond when i tried to calibrate

so i'm guessing i have to flash it back to get back t o normal;?

white screen basically means you used a wrong version firmware.

i was making my 168+ onto the big C i followed the directions..


so angel which one do i need?

i have been doing a lot of reading and something poped into my head about the sims not working.i also have a sciphone and it came with a bad emi and had problems with servise so i found on another site a tool that changes the emi to mach the phones emi #s on the back sticker.if iam correct it sounds like the 168c f/w might be useing the emi # from another phone running 3g cards and wont let it work.i want to post the page from the site i found it at but i dont want to violate any rules (if any)about posting other fourms here.what can i do to help?

That is a very valid point. If the imei number is a blocked number or already in use by someone else then you possibly will not get service.

alright this is cool.first we need some one to put the C f/w on the + phone(i ordered my cable for 168+ but it hasent come in yet) and check emi # if the emi # dosent match go here to get the tool with instructions

Here's what I've got so far. The c fw I have downloaded on my + phone does have a different imei than what is on my sticker on the phone. I've downloaded the imei tool and ran it with my phone connected with the usb-usb comm port cable. The program will search and find the correct comm port on my computer, but it states that no connection can be made. The program is for the sci-phone, but states in the read file that it is for mtk chip based phones. From what I've read the sciphone has a comm port option which the p168 does not. The driver that was with the program would not install either. Don't know if I need to uninstall the driver that is for the cable I got and try to install the one that came with the program or what. Whitt, BigMac you're the Sciphone guys. Little help please.

The standard usb won't work unless you have an option on the phone to open a comm port. Changing the imei is done by flashing in a replacement. Since the emei is in the bin file somewhere it could conceivably be changed through an editing program like hex editor. I'll look around for other programs to change the emei.
