| I forgot all about it, but spiderman has a section to change the imei. I changed the # from the one in the c fw to what was originally on my phone, but no joy. The c fw has 2 separate iemi's. Only the sim 1 slot can be changed and unfortunately that is the one that is not recognized when you flash a + to a c. I do now have a phone with the original imei for sim 1, but I still think the dual sim active is a hw issue. _________________ remember the ultimate answer is "42"

| Ok. To clear a few things up. I assume you are using the Javqui IMEI tool which was written for Sciphone's. I actually wrote the readme file in the package and helped the developer. -There is a strong possibilty that it will work on CECT as it is designed to use MTK chipsets. Although many of the AT commands are common amoungst most mobile phones. So it could work in many phones. -The IMEI tool uses the usb cable which came with the phone. And connects to the phone with the comport option within phone. -Some phones today do not have the com port option as a menu when you plug in the usb cable. This means you have to connect another way. Some users of fake Sciphones also have this issue. They seem to have success using a Bluetooth dongle to join the pc and phone. ( discussed on official Sciphone forums). Can someone confirm the bluetooth dongle will work on CECT and with IMEI tool? If you own one try connect pc and phone and read current data with tool. |

| I don't have screenshot capability on my laptop so I'll try to explain what happens. I connect my phone to the laptop with SPP; I then open the IMEI Tool and click search. The program does find the correct port and displays a partial file string of the phone's hw version. It does not display any part of the IMEI. The string is broken into 2 lines left of the box, which is also broken on the left side. The box to enter the 15 digit IMEI will only accept approximately 6 digits. Before searching for the comm port, the program shows areas for 2 IMEIs, but after searching only one is displayed. The C fw shows 2 different ones on the phone. When I tried to set the comm port manually and open it, it did nothing at all. _________________ remember the ultimate answer is "42"

| What about this nstead then. Writing down the imei numbers that are in new firmware when you install. Dial *#06# Now use a hex edit software to open the bin firmware you are using. and search for keyword text iimei or the number or even partial number you just wrote down. Edit the firmware bin file to correct imei and save. now reflash with the new firmware which has correct imei, |

| | one_crazy_dude wrote: | | i havent heard anything in a while.how is the iemi working out? | I was able to correct the IMEI number on my phone using a bluetooth COM link and spiderman. It sucessfully changed the IMEI number to the number that came on the phone's sticker, and it still doesn't see the sim. Next I'll reinstall the original + firmware and read the original IMEI number through spiderman. Maybe the sticker is wrong?
I also corrected the IMEI number on my C phone to match the sticker since I upgraded to the e-mail firmware. The phone worked fine before I did this, and still works after. I think I should read back my firmware now and compare it to the original so I can see where the IMEI is stored in the firmware._________________ How to readback/backup your firmware to your computer: ClickHow to unbrick/install firmware: ClickHow to edit graphics on your phone's firmware: Click |

| Here's a few things I've found out while messing with the IMEIs and Hex. 1) When you flash a different fw onto your phone, the IMEI is changed for Sim 1 2) Changing the IMEI once you flash a "+" to a "C" does not help the Sim 1 to be recogonized. 3) The Sim 2 IMEI is found in the fw of "C/C+", dual sim fw and they are all exactly the same. 4) The Sim 1 IMEI is not found in the fw of "+/C/C+" bin files. As I am not a programmer, I don't quite understand the reason for the sim 1 to be changed when flashing, yet not show up when searching for it in the bin file. I used different search strings ie. (IMEI, full #'s, partial #'s) and came up with no matches for the IMEI listed as sim 1 when you check the phone using *#06#. _________________ remember the ultimate answer is "42"

I reinstalled the original + firmware to my + phone and typed in *#06# and saw that the IMEI number matched the sticker. Next I used the bluetooth COM connection to change the IMEI number to something different. (I used the IMEI number of my other phone.) I restarted the phone and typed *#06# again to confirm that the IMEI number did in fact change. Then I readback the firmware and compared it to the original with the goal of discovering where the IMEI number is in the firmware. There were no differences!
I don't get it. How can flashing new firmware onto the phone change the IMEI when there's no IMEI in the firmware? There must be something we're missing._________________ How to readback/backup your firmware to your computer: ClickHow to unbrick/install firmware: ClickHow to edit graphics on your phone's firmware: Click |

| Exactly my confusion Testing. I've done that a couple different times on my p168+ and had the same results. The "Dual Sims" sim #2 IMEI shows up, but the sim #1 on any fw does not show up anywhere! _________________ remember the ultimate answer is "42"

| Hi guys. I was hoping you might figure it out yourselves but here you go anyway. Use the Javqui imei tool and just change either imei to whatever you want. It works on p168 phone great. You just need connect to pc via comport or bluetooth. |
