How to upgrade P168+ firmware to P168C firmware!!

Hey guys, you will have noticed that your admin has been away for awhile. Both bryce and myself have just gotten into our holidays so we will be spending a lot more time around the site and spending well needed time doing some maintenance work. This site has certainly grown since it's debut last year, and we look forward to seeing it continue to grow over the years.

We have posted a mini-forum for any other CECT phone models, we will make the consideration of making the CECT P168 Forum a CECT forum, but not in the near future, So all other CECT phone users, go check it out!

1. You have to buy this cable: Go Here.

2. You have to download these things:

The original P168C files: Download Here
Flash Tools Version 4.10: Download Here

3. You also should watch this video first to get the drift of what your doing, and keep it open and ready to watch if your stuck: Watch Here

4. THESE ARE THE STEPS TO TAKE AFTER YOU HAVE GOT THEM THINGS!
1. Turn your phone off

2. Before you start, take your battery out for a few seconds and put it back in, then put the cable you bought into the phone.

3. Then open flash tools V4.10 that you downloaded which you should have extracted to its own folder.

4. Click on options, on the top bar of the flash tools, go down to the 8th option which is "baseband chip option", then make sure that the "check baseband chip ESO version" is NOT checked (View Screenshot Here).

5. Click on the Scatter-loading link (View Screenshot Here). Then find the file that is in the extracted flash tools folder called scat.txt, open it.

6. Click on the DownloadAgent folder (View Screenshot
Here). then go to the folder that has all your flash tool extracted files in it, and click on MTK_AllInOne_DA (.BIN file 42.2kb)

7. Click on the word ROM (View Screenshot Here). then find the p168c_latest_version.bin file that you downloaded in step 2 of this tutorial.

8. Click on Download (View Screenshot Here). This process will take around 20 minutes (maybe more or less), then when a green ring shows up on the computer screen, you are finished, turn your phone on, and there you have it, you have succesfully upgraded to CECT P168C.

its just upgrading the menus and other things, and everything the p168+ is missing the the p168C has.

Hello again. Yes, if I put an older sim card in, my phone works great. The newer 3g sims I can't get to work. Still working on that.

i have read on another forum if you flash with youe 3g sims that it will burn it. you have to remove it befor you flash it with the 168c firm wear is that true did you remove your sims before you flashed it

You know what? I did have my sim in when I flashed it. The first time I did it I had the 3g in there. I did it again without the sim, same results. I also flashed it with the tmobile sim in it. Nothing happened. My 168+/C works, both sims work and my blackberry works. Guess I was lucky huh?

FYI My ATT 3G sims are still working.

I upgraded my phone at least 4 times to the P168C firmware. I never removed my 3G sims during any installs. They did not work with P168C but do work when I flash it back to P168+ firmware.

I have flash my phone with different P168c FW using both FlashTools4.10 And Spidernan 2.20 But nothing seems to work except the backup I made of my on Firmware... The P168c FWs They always complete but all I get when I try to turn the phone on is a flash of white screen then nothing. follow the tutorial to the letter

White screen usually means wrong bin file for your hardware.

normally you would have backup of your own version.
but if not try them all till you get it to work.

I flashed P168+ to the P168 C, flashed ok and booted, but touchscreen did not work. Flashed back to P168+, touchscreen still does not work. Anyone else have this problem?
