How to use your Webcam on CECT 168, CECT I 9, CECT N95I

The reason why the CECT webcam may not work for certain people is because of the version of the USB video device driver on their windows operating system. Well even if you update your windows XP with the service pack two 'SP2'. It may not work if you had the original windows xp or windows xp home edition.

If you have the 2005 windows XP edition known as the media edition, you will also have the microsoft usb video driver version 5 which will enable your cect webcam to work instantly Without the need of any drivers. Dont bother looking for drivers for the mediatek 6225, which is the webcam and usb flash drive harware of your phone.

How ever you will still need a camera operation software like instant message softwares. The truth is that a lot of peoples camera actaully works but they do not know it. This is because when they plug in their cect phone, they keep looking at the phone screen to see their video picture. The phone screen will not show you your video, instead it will show you a still picture of a webcam. You should look at your computer screen. Also make sure that the camera aperture is not blocked. remember that the camera is at the back of the phone so stop looking at the front of the phone. To ensure that your webcam camera works fine. Follow these steps.

1 - download the free software 'yawcam' from http://www.yawcam.com/download.php
2 - Install this software.
3 - Plug in your your usb cect webcam phone
4 - It gives you a menu to select. Select the webcam
5 - You will see the still picture of a webcam.
6 - Start the yawcam software. A little window opens on your computer and you will notice your camera working.

You may not need the yawcam software but the advantage is that this software installs usb communication protocals that permit your camera flash drive to be recognised as a pnp device by your operating system. A real bonus! because now your operating system will know that you have a camera device there. In that manner any other software looking for a camera will know where to find one.
